Systems Integration Engineer

To support our growth, we require a new member to join Systems Engineering team. The day to day duties will be varied in composition including management of customer communications and leadership of project activity, installation of hardware on customer sites, supporting end-users, working with integrators, and conducting site training. The role will also include deployment of software and configuration of systems both remotely via VPN and from clients’ sites throughout the UK and Europe, with the possibility of travel to USA and rest of the world.

Summary of Role

  • Acting as onsite project lead, for co-ordination activities and relevant communication of project tasks.
  • Utilising your software, electrical and mechanical skills to install, troubleshoot and support the end to end solution to a high standard and in an efficient time scale.
  • Configuring hardware devices such as HMIs, PCs, PLCs, Barcode scanners, Vision equipment and industrial coders.
  • Fault find on Ethernet and RS232, using electrical and software skills.
  • Undertake customer training from the basic line operation to full system training.
  • Be able to communicate and lead discussions with a wide customer audience.
  • Configure the end to end solution to enable integration from line side through to ERP/ MES type systems.
  • Conduct project analysis such as packaging, hardware and system implementation surveys.
  • Provide assistance during technical pre-sales process by identifying customers technical requirements.
  • Identify and escalate issues to relevant departments, when necessary.
  • Provide support to our customers via a Help Desk and onsite visits as required.

You will have:

  • At least 3 years of experience working in an engineering role, preferably as a project or vision systems engineer
  • Degree in relevant field i.e. Engineering, Computer Science
  • Be able to demonstrate mechanical skills that have been acquired
  • Strong appetite to learn and use our own software and 3rd party software systems
  • You will take an innovative approach to problem solving and be able to utilise and share knowledge with others in the team and across the company
  • A basic understanding of TCP/IP networks
  • Ability to prioritise issues and escalate when necessary
  • End user and project team training skills
  • Excellent client facing skills

Installation Base Sales Engineer

We are looking for a sales engineer to work with our existing New Business Account Managers and Helpdesk team to broaden our customer relationships at each installation site and proactively drive growth of our aftermarket sales.

Key untapped opportunities exist for hardware upgrades on PC’s and operating systems, replenishing depleted spares holdings and improving customer skill levels and training standards. Our support contracts provide an annual system health check at each site and this is an excellent opportunity to meet the customers and assess the status of each installation and associated sales opportunities.

Based from either an office or home location there will be periodic nationwide travel required to visit the installation base. The target for the first year is to grow the business to a 4th quarter 2021 sustainable run rate consistent with achieving a turnover of £500,000 in 2022.

Training will be provided and exposure to the Help Desk operation will be essential to understand the needs of customers.  The Company uses a global Help Desk Ticketing system, and this can be used to determine common customer problems, best practices for system use and of course opportunities to promote our services and additional products.

Our customer focused services include:

  • Training courses on-site/ remote/ off-site in AutoCoding system use
  • Engineer training for spares parts swap-out and usage
  • Health Check visits to appraise the current site use of a system and make subsequent recommendations for additional services, etc
  • Engineer site visits to address a specific system fault or problem
  • Additional modules and training thereof to expand the scope of the AutoCoding product with the customer
  • Establishment of and support for the renewal of Support Contracts
  • Customer requirements for Help documentation; whether on-line or hard copy form

You will have:

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Technical comprehension of software packages
  • Ability to establish relationship and personal rapport with customer representatives
  • Ability to ask the right questions to discover the facts of a particular matter or situation
  • High personal presentation standards
  • Reliability, integrity and the ability to engender trust at multiple levels within a customer’s organisation
  • Strong organisational and self-management abilities to achieve long term targets
  • Office IT skills for email, record keeping and tracking results; as well as competent presentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with both customers and internal teams
  • Full UK passport and UK driving license
