AutoCoding Systems will be part of JBT Corporation’s Digital Solutions at this year’s Pack Expo International event in Chicago, Illinois. The event, which takes place from 3-6 November 2024, is the largest packaging and processing trade show, with a focus on sustainability this year. AutoCoding Systems will be demonstrating automation solutions to prevent date coding and packaging errors.
Automated inspection lines
AutoCoding Systems is a world-class software product for automatic line setup of food packaging lines. When integrated with other business planning systems, the AutoCoding database contains master SKU product information for deployment to connected devices on the packaging line at the start of each job run.
Visitors to the Pack Expo show 2024 will be able to see a live demonstration of an automated job setup using the AutoCoding software solution. Compared to the manual approach of coding on each line device, the AutoCoding system can improve accuracy and efficiency by eliminating human error and reducing manual intervention. The AutoCoding System automates recipe deployment and control to connected devices such as printers, barcode scanners, metal detectors, x-ray machines and other packaging line devices, regardless of brand, reducing setup and changeover time.
Enabled by the AutoCoding Systems’ paperless quality module, quality procedures and checks can be integrated and automatically performed on the AutoCoding Systems line terminal or via a remote device. Visitors to the show will be able to see workflows with automated quality prompts and corresponding audit logs and reports generated for further insight and visualisation.
Continuous control
The Autocoding System enables continuous control, monitoring and recipe deployment. Factories with AutoCoding systems can be confident that products have been packaged with the correct packaging and label. The AutoCoding system always alerts if there is a deviation in the product or packaging. Its continuous inline inspections are supported by fully traceable digital records.
AutoCoding Systems will also demonstrate 4Sight for automatic print inspection and barcode reading to detect date codes and packaging errors without the need for manual inspection. Preventing product recalls due to incorrect coding or 1D/2D barcodes on packaged goods can reduce both product and financial waste. Waste prevention strategies align with most factories’ continuous improvement programmes and can support environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals.
Most importantly, recall prevention helps protect a company’s brand and reputation at a time when consumers are weary of the increasing number of recalls due to allergenic, chemical or physical contamination.
