Business Development Manager

This is an exciting opportunity for a proven Business Development Manager/ Software Sales Professional to join a growing team, to drive the launch of our AutoCoding product, in its latest global release form.

The AutoCoding software stack encompasses a wide range of technologies and frameworks, from highly interactive web-based User Interfaces to low-level device drivers. The latest product is the first to come from the dedicated in-house product development team -and has the benefit of many successful overseas’ implementations.

We use a variety of technologies including C#.NET, WPF, WCF and a range of web technologies including ASP.NET, MVC4, JQuery, and AJAX. We are a team that embraces new developments within software development, including NOSQL databases and responsive, interactive web technologies.

Our product has multiple sales channels including end-users, OEMs and distributor partners.

Role Summary

As a Business Development Manager you will instigate and lead opportunities and respond to new enquiries, mostly involving customer meetings, presentations, quotation/ proposals and on-site surveys.  In this role you will be expected to work unsupervised and largely on your own initiative; always however with the available support and guidance from your manager/ colleagues.  We have a dedicated Marketing team, as well as an extremely experienced Technical Support Group for all and any pre-sales matters.

You will be a quick learner, motivated by challenges and not fazed by high expectations.

You will have an excellent sales performance track record in software related sales of an industrial/ system integration nature and have an all-round comprehension of the industrial software industry and its leading products, etc.

Our Sales team is built on responsibility and ownership – we expect you to relish the prospect of achieving blue-chip customer sales with a highly innovative product and the establishment of long term customer/ partner relationships.  Whilst the majority of our customers to date have been from the food and beverage industry our products are adaptable to other markets.

There are currently two current vacancies, one for the North/ North West and the other for the South/ South East.

Essential

  • A highly proactive approach to business development with a demonstrable proven track record
  • Comprehension of leading industrial software technologies and products
  • An Honours based first degree in a technical/ engineering background
  • Great communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Commercial negotiation skills
  • Excellent personal standards

Highly Desirable

  • Experience or knowledge of the “system integration” industry
  • Evidence of further personal and professional development and attendance of training in progressive sales techniques and methods

Graduate Software Developer

This is an exciting opportunity for a University graduate to join a growing software team in the development of a recently launched new global software platform. The successful candidate will be mentored by our team of highly skilled and qualified Software Developers to become a key member of a team delivering world-class industrial automation products.

Role Summary

As a Graduate Software Developer you will play a varied role and will be exposed to the full lifecycle within an agile environment. As part of the strategic software team, your focus will be on contributing to the next generation of core products targeting a global marketplace. In this role, you will be expected to work alongside our existing talented software developers in architecting feature additions and improvements to our software platform. You will be a quick learner, motivated by challenges and not fazed by high expectations.

You will have an excellent academic background, having achieved (or be expecting) a 2:1 or above in Computer Science or related subject. Outside of University, you will be passionate and enthusiastic about developments in the world of software development. You may even have developed software apps or websites yourself as a spare-time hobby (in which case, we would love to see them during your interview!).

Our development team is built on responsibility and ownership – we expect developers to be knowledgeable and confident in bringing ideas to the table, and to nurture those ideas to fruition. You will embrace the opportunity to contribute to the architectural and implementation detail on every level of our technology stack – from device interaction to user interface.

Essentials

  • A strong technical background; a 2:1 or above in Computer Science (or related subject), and great results in modules related to programming and algorithms
  • Experience of at least one Object Orientated Programming Language (Java, C#, C++)
  • Passion for learning new programming languages, frameworks, and techniques
  • Great communication skills (both verbal and written)

Desirables

  • Experience or knowledge of web technologies (ASP.NET, MVC4, JQuery, Knockout JS)
  • An interest in low-level or embedded programming
  • An understanding of software testing techniques, including Test Driven Development
  • An appreciation of good User Interface design and an ability to understand software from a user’s perspective
  • Previous exposure to the SCRUM methodology

Graduate Software Tester

This is an exciting opportunity for a University graduate to join a growing software team in the development of a recently launched new global software platform. The successful candidate will join a new and emerging area of our development team as a software tester and will be mentored by our highly skilled team to become a key part of our strategic growth and product development.

The AutoCoding software stack encompasses a wide range of technologies and frameworks, from highly interactive web-based User Interfaces to low-level device drivers. All of these areas need thorough and rigorous testing to ensure that they are able to meet the promises we make to our customers of a software solution that performs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

There is a high expectation for delivery on this large and complex project which targets an international marketplace – as such the candidate must have the appetite to integrate into a fast paced, challenging and rewarding environment.

We use a variety of the latest tools and frameworks within our test team, as well as SCRUM development practices to manage workflow. As with all of our development practices, we have a thirst to be “best in class” at what we do and how we do it – and as a software tester you will be given the opportunity to play your part in this.

Our development team is built on responsibility and ownership – we expect developers and testers to be knowledgeable and confident in bringing ideas to the table and to nurture those ideas to fruition. You will embrace the opportunity to contribute to our entire testing lifecycle, from troubleshooting and diagnosis of problems to implementing robust solutions to help prevent their re-occurrence.

Essentials

  • A strong technical background; a 2:1 or above in Computer Science (or related subject)
  • At least a basic understanding of Object Oriented Programming principles
  • A passion for technology and for solving problems through the use of software
  • Great communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Well motivated, ability to work both alone and as part of a team

Desirables

  • Some experience of programming in C# or Java
  • An understanding of software testing techniques, including Test Driven Development
  • An interest in automated test techniques and technologies
